Sameera Alhosani

Sameera Alhosani is a writer of various articles and literary texts and scientific research. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from the United Arab Emirates University. Former educator and school principal, and currently is the director of the Department of Humanities and Languages Curricula at the Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates and an evaluator in school inspection programmes. She holds a bachelor's degree in English literature from the UAE University, a master's degree in educational leadership from the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi, a master's degree in education from Deakin University in Victoria and a postgraduate certificate in school inspection. She is interested in languages, and in ancient civilizations, archeology and theology, and holds postgraduate degrees in the discovery of biblical land and biblical Hebrew studies.

Through Luqman’s diary, the author seeks to portray a more accurate representation of life in Afghanistan’s Bamiyan Valley. The story is inspired by the incredible work of Afghan carpet weavers, who created the real Peace Carpet. This remarkable carpet was presented to His Holiness Pope Francis by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan - may God protect him - during his visit to the Vatican in September 2016. The Sheikha Fatima bint Mohammed bin Zayed Project for Sustainable Development supports these skilled women weavers, providing them with employment and education for their children, in a sustainable humanitarian effort aimed at improving their lives.
